Teaching/ Art Philosophy
I believe that teachers are obligated to hold the students to the highest expectations and encourage them to think highly of themselves. Becoming a teacher means that I will learn not just from the students but as well as the students' parents and my colleagues. I believe that with hard work and determination, students will rise to the occasion. I aim to bring a safe and positive environment for my students every day in my classroom.
My decision to pursue teaching art as a career was because I was inspired by my elementary school art teacher and I want to inspire students to become the greatest vision of themselves, just like how that teacher did for me. I would want to have a great impact to their lives that hopefully they can pursue in art in the future. I am a first-generation teacher and knew that I would want to be one to help change students' lives with art.
My teaching style will focus on small group and one-to-one teaching. I believe that art is one of the subjects that can be focused on the student- centered learning environment. I believe that this allows students to think outside the box and development their creativity. I want the students to explore a variety of mediums and art.
I want my students to know that they matter, that their ideas and opinions are valuable, and that the classroom feels safe enough that they can express themselves. That's why I believe that everyone should work together to create this safe and a collaborative learning environment for the students.
In conclusion, I believe it is my responsibility as a teacher to provide valuable instruction to meet each and every student in my classroom. I aim to inspire and make an impact to every student that enters my classroom. I aspire to create a safe and positive learning environment for my students to where they will remember me as a kind, warm person with a true passion for teaching.
